FAQs

GENERAL FAQ’S

There are a lot of “coaches” out there these days…why might you be the best fit?

You're right.  There are a lot of coaches out there and the knowledge and skill varies greatly.  What separates me from others in the field are my background in psychology and expertise in stress, craving, and behavioral habits.  In addition, my decades long mindfulness practice and certifications in HRV biofeedback and neurofeedback demonstrate my expertise and helpfulness in these areas.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?

Therapy may be needed to resolve past traumas and is a necessary resource for many experiencing a mental health disorder like severe depression, anxiety, psychosis, or other psychological condition. While traditional psychotherapy often focuses on the past, and aims to treat mental health conditions, coaching primarily focuses on the future, achieving personal goals, and living a life of greater ease, wellbeing, and optimal performance. It may be necessary at times to revisit past traumas and release the negative emotions related to those events, though coaching then returns focus to your desired future and the path to achieving it.

DIGITAL COURSES FAQ’S

Should I take one of your courses or do one-on-one coaching?

I generally recommend that if clients are wanting to reduce stress or change unwanted cravings and habits they should take one or more of my related courses prior to starting one-on-one coaching. If one-on-one coaching is still needed, these courses will form the foundation of our work together. If, however, you know you do much better working collaboratively with another person, you should consider working one-on-one. Also, if you are interested in coaching on topics other than stress and craving, you should consider one-on-one coaching.

Are your courses right for me?

The only real way to answer this question is by trying them. However, if you are experiencing any difficulty related to stress, craving, or unwanted behaviors than one or more of the courses are likely a good fit for you. And if you are interested in starting a mindfulness practice or taking your mindfulness practice to the next level, quickly, one or more of my other courses will likely be helpful.

How long do the courses take to complete?

The length of the courses vary and the time it takes to complete will depend on how frequently you engage in the content. Courses are broken down into short, easily manageable sections (e.g., 10 minute video) along with tasks for applying the concepts to your individual situation. For this reason, I generally recommend completing 1-2 sections a week so the content is not too overwhelming and you can dedicate time to applying the practices, which is where change happens.
